If you’re stuffing your local landing pages with irrelevant local fluff, you’re wasting time.

That is not how you rank and it is not how you convert people.

The right local signals can increase relevance tremendously.

No, BS signals like population, geographical metrics, or population density don't do that. Writing a long blurb about how “nice” the area is is not a selling point and it is not interesting to search engines.

Let me know in the comments what local signals you're using!

Local indicators should be relevant to the user. That boosts engagement, which improves visibility aka rankings.

Use the following local signals instead:
    • Parking info: Name the parking garage and show the cost.
    • Add directions with travel time from well-known landmarks or areas.
    • List nearby bus, train, metro lines and nearby stations.
    • Naming other local businesses: Say which two other businesses you are between. If you are in a mall or building, name the building.
    • Distance-based perks: Offer discounts to customers coming from farther areas.
    • Mention service areas or where customers typically visit you from.
Tip: Do not turn this into article-like information. Make it quick and easy to scan. Short notes beat walls of text.

What local signals are you using currently for your clients or your own business to keep them hyper relevant?

Hi @Tim Kahlert

1. Would you recommend adding them to the existing "service + location" pages?

2. OR, would it be better to include them on separate "city guide (city specific info blog)" blog post that focus solely on the area related information?

If you suggest 2nd option, do you have any recommendations on how to best leverage those blog posts for relevant backlinks to my main service pages, GMB, or other service-related pages?

Hi @anandm

1. Yes absolutely.
2. If the area related information is relevant for the potential customer there is no reason to create anything separately. I would rather create additional content about pricing, how you differ from competitors, what other people say about your business (case studies, reviews, etc) and what other problems you can solve (other service pages or articles)

I hope this helps.

IF the business is roofing services what is the best option? Because there's no parking at all and no physical address. Can you give me example how to be rank in 1st?

Hi! You still have the option to add case studies about certain local projects, share photos from known places your business was involved with, create a service area map, mention certain service areas you serve and where customers come from, creater stories around your reviews and name the person and what they wanted and what they eventually said about the job (there you can mention where the person is from and why they chose to do the roofing works with you etc) My Local Landing Page Mastery will launch soon where I will show you exactly how to build those pages. Good Insights sir..
Previously, my approach was mostly to mention nearby areas or neighbourhoods in the content, like “we serve these areas of ___ city”. It wasn’t keyword stuffing, but more of a way to clarify service coverage.
