Hi all,

After a site has been foundationally well optimized, with good location pages, service pages, good internal linking strategy, etc. how do you keep it climbing in the ranks other than adding monthly blog posts and backlinks? This company already has nearly 200 citations, so that's not a direction I can go. And they are getting great reviews on a regular basis.

Here are some things other seo "experts" have suggested. I've talked to a few people who say most of these are old tricks that don't move the needle anymore. I would love some feedback.

Except for the first two, these are indeed old tactics that don't seem to have any impact anymore.
I would work on increasing authority through the following: Brand mentions (forums), backlinks (real guest posts on local sites, PR), getting more reviews on multiple platforms(collect on Yelp & GBP), parasite SEO (create articles on other platforms like Linked or Medium etc where your business is featured.)

 

Look into doing Digital PR link building. These are great for the tail end of a campaign.

Came across this post late, but will leave some feedback from what I experienced.

Seeing "Google Map Pin with Driving Directions Links" brought back memories 😂. A lot of agencies still sell packages full of stuff that sounds impressive.

We got pitched something similar, passed on it, and later used Riordan SEO when we wanted a second opinion. They spent more time looking at content quality and AI search exposure than submission lists. Rankings improved without all the extra noise.
