The first touch point would be to ask the client directly for the services they provide and the competitors. Then put the services into Semrush or any other keyword research tool and export a list of main keywords. Then search for the competitors in Semrush AND manually and check out what they rank for and what they offer. Based on that you can start mapping out a content plane.

How are you doing it currently?

Thanks, Tim. The client already has historical data in GBP and in Google Search Console; right now, I am trying to understand it. Any suggestions on how to cluster them and make a keyword strategy and content strategy using previous data?
