I received Calls from other State over 1,000 miles away

Hi everyone, my client received some calls from other businesses with a similar name and niche in another state, 1,000 miles away. Why is this happening, and what could be the reasons?

Hi! Maybe Google ads aren't properly optimized without area exclusions?! Then, obviously, the brand name search could lead to Google showing the other business if the names are similar. How similar are their names?

Thank you, Tim! Yes, it’s exactly the same business name. So, is it highly possible this could happen, even if the other business is in Nebraska and we're in Oregon?
 
It could be because of a few reasons maybe the businesses with similar names are sharing contact info online or there's some confusion with search results. Sometimes, even if you’re not actively marketing there, Google or other platforms can show results that overlap.
