Creating location pages does not automatically make your Google Business Profile rank in those areas
Creating location pages does not automatically make your Google Business Profile rank in those areas! ⛔️

Many SEOs will tell you:

“Create a bunch of location pages and Google will start ranking your business in those locations.”

That is only half the truth.

Because if local content alone were enough, every local business could create hundreds of pages and dominate the entire country.

We know that doesn't happen.

Competition and proximity are still the driving forces behind local search rankings.

I learned this lesson the hard way a few years ago.

We built a new website for a client and created several location pages targeting the surrounding areas and we mentioned the areas in other articles or pages.

These were not mass-produced pages.
Each page had unique content, real photos, and local content specifically written for that location.

Then we waited.

And waited.

And After months of creating more pages, almost nothing changed.

So, if high-quality location pages and local keywords are not enough, what is?

The answer: Evidence.

Google needs more reasons to believe that your business is actually relevant, prominent, trusted, and active in the areas you are targeting.

Location pages could be the foundation, but they need to be supported by more local content and real-world signals.

Based on what I found, to expand your local ranking area, you need:

  • Relevant content about the services and locations you target
  • Reviews across Google, Facebook, and other platforms mentioning your services and service areas
  • Public social posts where customers discuss your service and where they are located
  • Engagement and search activity coming from the specific areas you want to reach
  • Branded searches that show people in those locations already know and trust your business
  • Feature son other sites and PR

You cannot claim that you serve an area and expect Google to immediately believe you. (or if that wasn't enough to create more pages)

You need data that supports the claim.

And that can take, depending on the situation, months to years to accomplish.

The great thing about this supporting-content strategy is that with that supporting content, you will increase your chances to rank in AIOs and other LLMs.
